The High Commission of Ghana in South Africa has debunked audio message circulating on Whatsapp and other social media that the Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, His Excellency George Ayisi -Boateng has served notice that it will evacuate its citizens in South Africa following recent xenophobic attacks there.

In a statement issued by the mission and copied to thepressradio.com on Thursday, 05 September 2019, stated that the information is palpably false and without merit and should be treated with contempt it deserves.

“ it has come to the attention of the mission that there is a fake audio message going round on whatsapp that the High Commissioner, H.E Mr. George Ayisi – Boateng, has stated that a free flight has been arranged to transport Ghanaians willing to go back to Ghana, due to the xenophobic attacks” the statement stated.

“The Mission wishes to reiterate that that information is palpably false and without merit” it added.

The commission indicated that it has set up dedicated emergency lines for Ghanaians in distress in South Africa.

“Kindly note that the hotlines for reporting any issue on the xenophobic attacks are 002712 342 5847/8 and 0027 (0)76 958 7943
