If Sheikh Sharubutu Et Al Die In 2019, A Sign Of A Powerful Prophet?

Over a tenner now in the Ghanaian society, men deeming themselves Prophets of God and the giants of the nation's spirituality have appropriated every nook and cranny of the state. Their daily activities could be seen everywhere; the streets, market places, government offices, restaurants ("chop bars"), living apartments, forest reserves, mountains, even our classrooms which are originally intended to be educational facilities. As a matter of fact, the history behind their springing up is wrongly (without discernment) traced to the Biblical pronouncement of Joel 2:28. The laws of our land (Ghana) have not given punctilious attention to clamping down these falsified dealings of the men so parading themselves as prophets. At a go, we can all mention tens of names of these supposed prophets who are not only killing the human resourcefulness of our nation but also slowly setting a breeding ground for inter ethnic, inter/intra family, inter religious conflicts.

Pathetically, it's either a person is bedeviled by his/her family member or someone will die in a particular season that becomes the most talked about of their prophecies. Many others have become money making machines, openly declaring that they have angels who rob (from where we don't know) and bring monies to them (eg. Obinim, Bohyeba, Obofour). They are, (maybe) after the politician, the billionaires of our nation. It is not surprising that often, 31st December of every year brings to these prophets an open opportunity to pronounce the deaths of great men of our land. Quite referential is the death pronouncements on His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, H.E (Fmr) John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor, Mrs. Theresa Kufuor and a Son of H.E (Fmr) John Dramani Mahama, et al by Reverend Owusu Bempah on 31st December, 2018. Let me set the records straight by strongly indicating that, the death of any of the above names (emphasis on first three names) is a blessing to this nation.

His Eminence Sheikh Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu was born on 23rd April, 1919. By rough years calculation, he is 100yrs in the travel of age. From a very low societal background he rose in all humility and diligence to the pedestal of a National Chief Imam, having been appointed in 1988 by the Council of Muslim Chiefs under the leadership of Chief Amida Braimah. He is a known Islamic Cleric, recognized around the globe and accordingly a member of the National Peace Council, Ghana. Undoubtedly, this is a man whose calm nature touches every man from all religious sects of this nation. There are some people who have attributed his quite nature to a probable deficiency in the English Language, which is seemingly the official medium of communication in Ghana. Surprisingly, they only forget how maverick he could have been through his spokesperson regardless. Their arguments to me are flawed at birth. You will certainly know a man by his moves if not his tongue and any honest person would honor the man for his naturally humble and calm personality. For the benefits Ghana has derived from this man, especially in the area of peace building and conflict resolution, it is only fair to agree with God if he takes him from us this year, 2019. 100yrs of his life, doing for Ghana what Owusu Bempah can never do given 1000yrs is absolutely enough to make Ghanaians feel blessed by having such a son of this land called Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, 'a paragon of virtue'. His death, if at 100, is therefore no prove of the powerfulness of any prophet including Owusu Bempah.

H.E John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor, born on December 8, 1938 (80yrs) is a former President of the Republic of Ghana. He has served as a Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister, Minister, Lawyer, Businessman and Chairman of the glorious Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club. His life achievements are numerous counting from his engagements listed above. At 80, we can lay hold of greater evidential proof of how well he has lived not just for himself but for the nation, Africa and the entire Globe. He has touched lives and is still touching lives with his legacies. Scripturally (according to Biblical belief), he's 10yrs aged than the years given to man to spend on earth by God. Is this not enough a blessing than a curse? Now, if this man, so great in honor dies at 80, how does this become a standard for telling the powerfulness of a prophet? His wife, Mrs. Theresa Kufuor is a little aged than him. They have procreated and seen the procreation of their sons and daughters in full fold of years. How on earth is the death of such mighty men become a way of showing forth the power of a certain man of God? As a matter of fact, they have sown and reaped in all fullness of time what creation demands of them as human created by God to procreate and fill the earth. Beyond procreation, they have served their nation and humanity and have given all we demand from them.

It is only out of mediocrity to think that making such open pronouncements and seeing them come to pass is what determines the power of a prophet. In fact, it is not only an acting of preaching doom but a breeding ground for destabilizing the peace that we have enjoyed so far as a people living in harmony despite our diverse ethnic and religious society. Government, must as matter of urgency put in place legislative, executive and judicial sanctions in place to sanitize the system. Traditional authorities should "shut up the bowels" of these supposed prophets who have bought the conscience of their subjects. The Christian Council of Ghana and other religious organizations should play instrumental roles in sanitizing the system as well. Citizens, who have cheaply sold out their minds, refusing to discern the spirits through studies, prayer and supplications should begin to watch their ways. Indeed, to curb this menace, each one of us have a role to play. Until then, we must be bold to face the truth to say that, if Sheikh Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, H.E J.A Kufuor and Mrs Theresa Kufuor dying in 2019 is no news to make anyone a powerful prophet. Or; does a doom prophecy and its subsequent occurrence become a sign of a great prophet?
