Gomoa Central Business Advisory Center has held Kaizen forum for Business community in the District aimed at boosting productivity and cut time wasting at various work places.

The forum which attracted artisans, farmers, staff of decentralized departments in the district, market women, hawkers, drivers and students among others drawn from all the communities were given education on time wasting during working hours.

The Gomoa Central District Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo commended the Business Advisory Center for the forum which would enable participants adopt modern methods of working at their work places using Kaizen project.

" We cannot continue with old methods of doing things wherever we find ourselves. There is the need for us to streamline things to meet the modern trend.

Time, they say is money so we should try as much as possible to use out time profitably at our workplaces. The Assembly expect nothing but proficiency and productivity from the informal sector to contribute its quota towards national development.

The Gomoa Central District Assembly is focusing attention towards improvement of Small Scale Enterprises knowing that they play a major role in the District especially when it comes to job creation

Let expand our businesses through the Kaizen approach. The Business Advisory Center has been tasked to come out with different innovations for the business community and for that matter the informal sector to grow "

The DCE assured the participants that his office was wide opened to give any support for the sector to access loan facilities which would enable them expand their businesses.

The Central Regional Director of Investment for NBSSI, Mr. Albert Boachie-Amofa disclosed that the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) in collaboration with Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was implementing National Kaizen Business Development Service project in some selected regions across the country.

He stated that the National Kaizen project started in 2012 in the Ashanti Region and is a pilot project. Mr. Boachie-Amofa explained the project was aimed at Strenthening the capacity of NBSSI on its Business Development Services provision and facilitation through the application of Enterprise Diagnosis.

" Kaizen project has come in the wake of effort by NBSSI, the lead government body responsible for Micro and Small Scale Enterprises development to work with relevant stakeholders to improve the sector.

This sector faces challenges of managing their Business which hamper the growth of the economy. It therefore require Business Development Services to support them realise its full potential.

This is why Kaizen project was introduced to help in providing effective and efficient quality products for the job market "

He concluded that the practice has upgraded management capacity and also improved productivity..

According to the Head of the Gomoa Central District Business Advisory Center, Mr. Nathan Arkaah, the forum was jointly sponsored by NBSSI/JICA.

He noted that Kaizen project was introduced by the Japanese to bring sanity in various work places and it has been adopted by many countries across the globe.

He noted that Kaizen project was best for people working in the Private sector especially to enhance production and cost adding that the practice has been beneficial to entrepreneurs.

" The Kaizen project is a principle which has been tried and tested worldwide. This practice has enhanced productivity, cut labour cost and time wasting during working hours.

It has been observed that we waste previous time producing products due to old ways of doing things at our working environment.

With Kaizen project few minutes are spent in producing the needed products and Services thus increase income and less labour "

Mr. Nathan Arkaah disclosed that National Board for Small Scale Industry (NBSSI/JICA adopted the kaizen project to boost sanitation, productivity and to attract news sets of customers who hinder to were not seeing proficiency in the business.

He advised business owners to take advantage of the project adding news innovations ought to adopted by the Business community to be abreast with the global market.

" My outfit is ready to facilitate access to credit for Business community. NSSI/JICA also facilitate credit facilities to businessmen/women to enhance their work. We will also collaborate with small scale enterprises with business proposals and plans "

A Business advisor of the Business Advisory Center at the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Madam Linda Oduro-Amoaning in an interview with newsmen said the Kaizen project was introduced to the country to cut lapses and cost .

" Kaizen project is a Japanese tool been used for the working environment to cut time waste and cost. It has been introduced in Ashanti, Northern, Brong Ahafo and Greater Accra Regions and are being successful and is being introduced in Seven selected Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Central Region.

The Assembly are Cape Coast Metropolitan, Effutu Municipal, Agona West Municipal, Gomoa Central District, Twifo-Eti Mokwaa, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa and Assin South.

The forum is to sensitize business owners the benefit of applying Kaizen approach at their workplaces. It simply means change attitude for the better or use to improve your business.

Kaizen has come to stay and will employ all and sundry to use it to enhance production and to halt waste of precious time "

Madam Linda Oduro-Amoaning expressed the hope that Kaizen approach would be practice at the various workplaces to generate income for business owners.
