Tongu Students Benefit From Datalink Scholarship

Datalink University College has unveiled a full tuition scholarship package for 300 brilliant but needy students from the North, South and Central Tongu districts in the Volta Region.

Mrs Ingrid Ansah, Co-Founder of the University said the initiative was to make tertiary education accessible to the less privileged.

"We want to give hope to young people to further their education and yours is to work towards meeting the requirements," she said.

Mrs Ansah said this at the launch of the 30th anniversary celebration of The Tongu Youth and Children Evangel (ToYACE), a Christian Non-Governmental Organisation empowering youth in the area.

She said the youth must be encouraged to take advantage of education and skill training programmes and called for increased stakeholder support towards Government's free education policy.

Mrs Ansah commended the community development initiatives of ToYACE, as well as its vision of youth empowerment, saying such advancements "help to shape and grow our society".

"Successful countries consist of people who are willing to think, to re-generate and to evolve, and therefore people must seek opportunities to change the destiny of society and must translate ideas into real achievements", She stated.

Mrs Ansah called on individuals and groups within the communities to embrace ToYACE and encourage it to help the community to prosper and inspire other communities.

Mr Bestway Zottor, Founder of the NGO expressed appreciation for the scholarship and said a committee would be formed to oversee its distribution.

He said the organisation which had trained hundreds of youths would soon establish a technical and vocational training Institute, and a Bible College in the area.

ToYACE has championed entrepreneurial skills development in the Tongu areas, undertaken water and sanitation projects and Evangelistic programmes.

The NGO also has a "Faith Theological and Agricultural school" and a radio station.

Datalink University donated sewing machines and other equipment to the Organisation.

Togbui Damadzi IV, Senior Divisional Chief of Loafe Clan of Anlo asked the people to support ToYACE and take advantage of the education and skill training programmes.
