
Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Deputy Minister of Communication has lauded the chiefs and people of Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area for their contributions in the creation of the Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly.
He made the commendation at the inauguration of the Assembly on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at Akim Manso in the Eastern Region.
The Assembly is one of the 38 newly created Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country by the government to enhance local governance at the grassroot level.
Oberempon Sintim Opoku III, the Chief of Akim Manso and the Benkumhene of the Akyem Kotoku Traditinal Area, expressed happiness at the creation of the Assembly and gave the assurance that the towns would cooperate with the staff in the discharge of their duties.
He said Akim Manso is the head of the Benkum Division of the Traditional Area and has about 60 towns and villages, hence the district capital.
