Beiyando people celebrates their annual Ndipuandaan Festival

The chief of Beiyando (Kakraka) Nana Kuyon Bikanyi father of Hon. Solomon Kuyon former DCE for Krachi Nchumuru and his people climax the 5th edition of the revived annual Ndipuandaan festival on 2nd January, 2018 at Beiyando a community near Chinderi in the Krachi Nchumuru district of the V/R. A programme which lasted for four (4) days was climax with a lot of activities which includes, football gala while the Grubi Stars immerge the overall winner took home two sets of Jersey, two footballs, a trophy and a cash amount of GHC500.00, there was a cultural dance by the Konkombas called Kinachum, Kedebah and Baya dance by the Nchumurus, and a wonderful display by the Kable peoples.

The chief, Nana Kuyon stated on his speech read on his behalf by Dr. Samuel Nkumban a lecture of University of Ghana that, Ndipuandan festival is an ancient festival celebrated by all Konkombas. It signified the end of the year with the harvest of guinea corn and ushers in the New Year with Merry making and pito brewed from the newly harvested guinea corn. He said.

Guinea corn is venerated by Konkombas because of its socio - culture and economic importance to the entire Konkombas of rituals ethic group. It is the only crop that requires the performance of rituals during planting and harvesting. The importance of guinea corn during marriages, funerals, social gatherings and the performance of customs and rituals cannot underestimated among the Konkomba people. He added.

Nana Kuyon highlighted some of the teething challenges confronting the Krachi Nchumuru district such as, lack of infrastructural facilities in many communities, the Nkpabere Bridge near Zongo Macheri and the deplorable state of Anyanamean - Boafri road through Chinderi to Nandikrom continue to hinder the easy movement of people, goods and services within the district. The other one is lack of health facility in the Bitimae Electoral Area deprived some of the people of accessing healthcare services, he therefore, appealed to the Krachi Nchumuru District Assembly to consider construction of CHPS compound in Kakraka.

He shows much gratitude to the past Administration under the former President John Dramani Mahama for the construction of a 3 - unit classroom Block and a 10 - seater KVIP toilet facilities in Kakraka. He added, although in spite of the challenges, it is evident that the creation of the District has tremendously brought development to the citizens of Krachi Nchumuru.

John Majisi the honourable Member of Parliament for the District promised to work hand in hand with the DCE to enhance development but issued a warning to people who are trying to cause misunderstanding between them to desist from it, he being an NDC and DCE also a member of NPP doesn't change anything all they want for their people is development. He said.

The District Chief Executive for the Nchumuru Augustine Kwasi Appiah in his address said, Accommodation for the students in Nchumuruman Community Day Senior High School is a big challenge therefore, a contract have been awarded to construct a hostel facility for the school to help students from far and near to also benefit from the free SHS policy by President Akuffo Addo's government. Many other projects according Will soon be roll out in the district.

He advise the people to be extra careful about the way some of them normally entertain strangers since they end up conniving with some of the youth by engaging in arm robbery and petty thievery in the communities, he charged them to assist the security personnel to clamp down all these activities.

Hon. Appiah urged his people to be coexistence since society is dynamic, they should also change from all kinds of behaviors which they see not to be encouraging. He finally advise the general public patronize the use of guinea corn especially, those with diabetes.
