Global Evangelical and E.P. Church commit to peaceful co-existence

Accra, July 15, GNA - The Executive of the Global Evangelical Church (G.E.C.) and the leadership of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (E.P.C.) have expressed willingness to work together to find lasting solutions to the challenges facing the two churches amicably.

To this end, the leadership of the two churches said they had initiated some processes to deal with the difficulties at the top and these would soon be made known to their members.

Both leaderships have, therefore, appealed to their members to follow the steps of their leaders to make the dream a reality.

These came to light when the Executive of the Global Evangelical Church paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the E.P. Church at the latter's Headquarters in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital.

The Rt. Rev. Dr. Setorwu Ofori, Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, said the visit was among others to introduce the new Executive of the Church to their colleagues in the E.P. Church.

He said the visit was also meant for the two churches to discuss areas of mutual interest and to chart the way forward for co-operation.

In response, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Seth Agidi, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, commended the Global Evangelical Church for the visit referring to it as a step in the right direction.

He said the E.P. Church and the Global Evangelical Church both had a common constituency and must ensure that the two churches speak one language to enhance development in the area in particular and Ghana in general.

He said both churches must appreciate the fact that they were co-labourers in the farm of a common Master, Jesus Christ.

Rev. Dr. Agidi on behalf of his leaders, assured the Global Evangelical Church of his Church's participation in their Synod scheduled for August this year.

He called for more reciprocal visits to cement the growing cordial relationship that exists between the two sister churches.
