
The former Chief Operations Officer (COO) of Tigo, Obafemi Banigbe has joined the advisory board of Kirusa.
The global telecom and social media company made this announcement in a press release copied Myjoyonline on May 12.
He will help steer Kirusa's work to ensure the international company makes the right impact in the world.
Reacting to the news, Mr. Banigbe expressed his excitement for the appointment.
He said “Over the years, Kirusa has evolved to be one of the most dynamic and innovative player in the mobile messaging, social media, and mobile marketing solutions in the emerging markets.”
“The passion and the constant drive to improve on existing products while leveraging new technologies in a consumer-centric manner has helped Kirusa maintain its innovative brand positioning over the years”, he continued.
Mr. Banigbe who could not hide his excitement said “I am delighted to be joining Kirusa’s advisory board at this time. I am eagerly looking forward to supporting the management and team as they are set to take advantage of the tremendous growth opportunities that exist in the Africa region.”
On his part, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kirusa, Inderpal Singh Mumick said “We are pleased to welcome him on our advisory board and look forward to his expertise and strategic ideas to help us in our journey”.
Femi’s career:
Mr. Banigbe is currently the Managing Partner at Silver Rock Technology Services - a start-up business and technology consulting firm focusing on Information and Communication technology industries.
Prior to co-founding Silver Rock, Femi was the Chief Operations Officer of Millicom Ghana (operators of Tigo) where he also functioned as the acting CEO and CTO.
Before this, he was the CTO for Millicom Tanzania.
Femi has held leadership roles in Airtel, Celtel & V-Mobile in Nigeria. He has also worked in Ericsson during his early career in several capacities.
Education:
Femi holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria.
He has a certificate in Advance Management Program at London Business School as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Manchester Business School, United Kingdom.
