
The recently elected Flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Comrade Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, on Wednesday paid his last respects to the late Oseadeeyo Nana Addo Danquah III, king of the Akropong Akuapem traditional area.
Prof Miranda Greenstreet, the mother of Greenstreet partly hails from the Royal house of the Akropong Akuapem stool and is the granddaughter of Nana Kwame Ofori Kuma. Paying homage to the late king, was Greenstreet’s first funeral after a resounding victory at the recently held National Delegates Congress of the CPP.
Nana Addo Danquah III was laid in state as part of the tradition of Akuepem for family members and sub-divisional chiefs to pay their last respects. He was installed the paramount chief of the Akuapem Traditional Area in 1974 at the age of 44 and reigned continuously for 35 years.
Accompanying the Flagbearer were some party officials including the First National Vice Chairperson- Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim, First Vice Chairman of Eastern region CPP who is also the Constituency chairman for Akropong – Justice Kofi Henaku, James Kwabena Bomfeh (Kabila)- a member of the CPP, Mamshie Omar Bawa and Isaac Winful Dadzie.
Ivor Kobina Greenstreet has become the first physically challenged in Ghana to be elected as a Presidential candidate. He polled 64.2% of the votes cast.
