Job 600 Leaks; Elevators, Security Scanners Broken Down

Barely a month after the Job 600 building was inaugurated to provide office accommodation for Members of Parliament of Ghana, the roof of the magnificent edifice has started leaking anytime it rains.

A report by the Chronicle Newspaper Monday stated that water seeps into some of the electric motors that drive the traction cables and counterweight systems of the elevators in the building, making them difficult to operate.

Also, two out of the six elevators in the refurbished office complex are currently not operating while the newly installed security scanner at the entrance of the office complex is not functioning which has compelled security personnel detailed at the point of entry to subject visitors to physical body checks.

The State property was refurbished by the China State Hualong Construction Company Limited and inaugurated on November 7 by President John Mahama.

It has 252 offices for Members of Parliament and also boasts of a three hundred seater auditorium, a gym, restaurant, a clinic, a mosque, a fire station, VIP common room, video conferencing room and banks.
