Thieves have stolen gold ornaments and other valuables from the strong room of powerful god, Antoa Nyama in the Kwabre East of the Ashanti region.
The gold ornaments and the other valuables stolen by the thieves are worth thousands of cedis.
It is not quite clear when exactly the raid occurred, though it came to light on Wednesday, according to a Ghanaian Times report.
Six people stationed to protect the shrine of the powerful deity have been arrested by the Police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Emmanuel Aduboahen, Kenyasi District Police Commander who confirmed the incident to the Ghanaian Times said the theft was strange, judging from where the strong room is located.
DSP Aduboahen said the suspects had been granted police enquiry bail to assist in investigations, but did not mention the names.
Some sources at the shrine also revealed that people hardly went into the strong room and that the last time the chief custodian visited there, was four years ago.
