Accra, Nov. 15, GNA - Dr Charles Buckman, a Motivational Speaker, has noted that the missing link in Africa is leadership with the youth being the solution.

He has therefore advised the youth of Africa to be daring, dreamers and determined in any little corner they find themselves to make a change that would help solve Africa's problems as well as transform the continent.

'You are the people going to make Africa, so cease the moment, as you are the greatest generation of leadership Africa is providing,' Dr Buckman stated on Saturday at the Webster Ghana and Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) barbeque and networking event in Accra.

He added that the youth, should position themselves strategically as well as their brands to make them excel in their endeavours and to be the change Africa is expecting.

'The law of attraction will only work for you when you associate with important people, know who you are and find eagles that will sharpen your thoughts,' he said

Dr Buckman urged the youth to be generational thinkers, be a solution, maximise their time and manage their expectations especially when Africans are living in a critical times and not transcending.

'Dream a new dream, is a new Africa and Africa needs you,' he advised.

Dr Victor Osei, Director, YALI Regional Leadership Centre (RLC), West Africa, Accra, explained to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that, YALI, which was President Barrack Obama's initiative, was launched in 2010 as signature efforts to invest in the next generation of African leaders.

He said currently, YALI promotes the Public Civil management track for civil Society Organisations, Civil society leadership training for non-governmental organisations and entrepreneurship tracks for entrepreneurs models.

'At the moment we are engaging 105 students from Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Togo and Cote d'viore for a five weeks training which started on November 2 and expected to end on December 4...' he said.

Dr Osei noted that through the support of Webster University Ghana Campus, organisers of the flagship event, RLC is training the youth from the eight African countries to develop their communities, to take its position in the global world.

He therefore encouraged the youth especially the beneficiaries of the training to forge ahead and transform their countries with knowledge gained to be change leaders for Africa.

'Leadership has no limit to age, gender or race, there are equal opportunities in leadership, so arise and make hay whiles the sun shines,' he advised.

Ms Hannah Verity, Director of Global Programmes, Webster College of Arts and Sciences, St Louis, Missouri, challenged the youth to let the positive impact the training would have in their lives reflect in West Africa after one to ten years from now.

Mr Daniel Fennell, Embassy Counsellor, United States Embassy, lauded President Obama for a remarkable initiative that seeks not to think of Africa in years to come only but see the birthing of YALI that is identifying and empowering young leaders of Africa.

Ms Christa Sanders, Campus Director, Webster University Ghana Campus, advised the youth to be agents of change who would transform themselves not only in Africa but globally.

Ms Irene Amoako, a beneficiary and member of YALI, speaking to the GNA lauded the organisers for the great platform offered the youth through grooming, extensive education and mentorship that was a roadmap to their future and Africa's at large.

The event was on the theme: 'Global Leadership and it coincided with the final celebration of Webster centennial.
