Users of the Kejetia Terminal in Kumasi were last week reminded of the atrocities meted out to people especially women in Kumasi during the revolutionary days as soldiers detailed to the terminal subjected a defenseless woman to severe beatings and harassment.

Their wicked assaults on innocent victims since taking over the terminal on the orders of Mr. Kojo Bonsu has received scathing criticism from several people in Kumasi as they lashed their latest victim with their belts without giving recourse to which part of her body they hit.

Yaa Pokua told journalists she was seriously manhandled by the soldiers leaving her with several bruises on various parts of her body including the nipples of her breasts. The soldiers who have been on duty at the terminal since the beginning of the 'Kejetia Invasion' with their guns and hard woven belts subject innocent people to strict military bullying and pay no heed to their critics as they have been assured, by our investigations, of the Mayor's defense at any point.

Their latest victim also known as 'Obaa Yaa Race Course', recounted that last Saturday she joined several curious traders and passersby who stood in front of a shop on the terminal watching the military men as they disciplined a driver whom they said had thrown the remains of an orange he ate on the grounds of the terminal.

Obaa Yaa narrating her sad story to this paper claimed one of the military officers called her out of the many spectators and struck her with his belt several times without any provocation.

“He ordered me to come forward as if he wanted to ask me a question only for him to beat me with a belt repeatedly all over my body, thereby causing harm to my breast, back, hand and face”, Obaa Yaa recalled. Indeed, a medical report cited by this paper stated that Obaa Yaa sustained “multiple surface abrasions on the right nipple, posterior and right trunk” as a result of the attack.

According to the victim the other people with whom she stood there were initially not eager to react, but intervened upon sensing danger which saved her.

The Kejetia Police with whom she lodged a complaint on the fateful day have been unable to get the main suspect for questioning as his group which has always been at the terminal since the invasion has been changed. However Obaa Yaa ia calling for a parade for her to identify her assailant.

“Even if they bring two thousand soldiers here I can identify the one who first called me and began beating me with the belt and his colleagues who were there”, she dared.
