Wa, Jan. 10, GNA - The Upper West Regional Co-ordinating Council has awarded a contract for the construction of an inner perimeter fence at the Wa Sports Stadium.
Already a borehole has been drilled at the stadium to provide safe drinking water for spectators and also facilitate the watering of the pitch.
Mr Sahanun Mogtari, the Regional Minister announced these when he addressed the Wa District People's Assembly at Wa on Thursday to mark the third year rule of the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He said the erection of the inner perimeter fence was part of measures being taken to improve security at the park and also to bring facilities at the stadium up to date.
He noted with concern the high incidence of invasion of the playing pitch by football fans in the region.
Mr Mogtari called on the youth in the rgion to avail themselves of opportunities and facilities provided by individuals and institutional sports promoters to develop sports as well as the unearthing of their talents for brighter sporting careers.
He also urged them to do away with drugs so as to realise their full sporting potential. 10 Jan. 04
