
Twenty-three Junior High Schools (JHSs) in the Fomena constituency have benefitted from the supply of computers and accessories by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Fomena, Nana Abu Bonsra.
The MP donated a total of 125 computers and accessories, as well as 125 pieces of Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) devices, estimated to cost a total of GHc60,000 to the schools.
The beneficiary schools include the Fomena Methodist JHS, Abu Bonsra JHS, Kwapensan JHS, Kyeaboso JHS, Akrokerri R/C JHS, Akrokerri D/A JHS and Akrokerri Methodist JHS, Bobirase JHS and Buaben JHS.
Others are Old Ayaase R/C JHS, Fomena D/A JHS, Dompoase Demonstration JHS, Kyekyewere JHS, Medoma D/A JHS, Agogoso D/A JHS and Adukwai D/A JHS.
The rest are Abedwom D/A JHS, Adomanu D/A JHS and Kwapia D/A JHS, Ahinsan D/A JHS, Sodua D/A JHS and ATTC Practice JHS at Akrokerri.
Nana Abu Bonsra, who presented the computers to the schools at a ceremony at the District Assembly Hall at Fomena last week, said he had also provided computer laboratories for the Kwapia, Abu Bonsra, Dompoase, Kyeaboso and Bobirase Junior High schools, besides offering scholarships to 120 students in the constituency.
He noted that education was the key to development, and that ICT was more relevant to the transformation of the country through education.
Mr. Charles Yaw Assuah-Yeboah, District Director of Education, who received the computers on behalf the schools, thanked the MP for the gesture, saying it would contribute to improving the standard of the education in the district.
He announced a marked improvement in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results ,as the Adansi North district scored about 95.8% this year.
Nana Agyeman Pensan, Mmawerehene of Dompoase, who deputised for the Chief of Dompoase at the presentation ceremony, stressed the importance of education in national development in this era of globalisation.
