Hon. Alhaji Amadu Seidu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Yapei/ Kusawgu in the Northern Region of Ghana has responded to the free SHS mantra of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the Northern Region of Ghana still enjoys free education.

Hon. Seidu Amadu indicated that what the Northern Region is presently enjoying is the free feeding in the boarding house but not the entire education cost.

In an exclusive interview with The Al-Hajj, the MP argued that, most educational facilities in the country were constructed under the NDC one and two administrations and challenged the NPP to give one achievement they have made in the education sector during their 8 years rule.

According to him, while the NDC over the last three and half years was busily building the shamble economy left behind by the Kufour led NPP administration he stated, the NPP was wasting time propagating lies about the government.

Described what the NPP was doing as a political gimmick to divert attention of Ghanaians on the performance of the NDC, the Hon. Seidu Amadu was surprised about the way and manner in which the communications director of the NPP Mr. Akomea could go on air to lie on something he was not aware of.

Hon. Nana Akomea was reported to have stated on Metro TV Good evening Ghana programme that the three Northern Regions of Ghana have been enjoying free education.

He also took a swipe at Nana Addo's running mate Dr. Mahmud Bawumia for inciting religious ethnocentrism in this modern day body polity.

He said Dr. Mahmud Bawumia who himself hails from the region should point out to the people what kind of interventions he made when he was a deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana and leading member of the NPP at the time.
