DFID, Executive Intelligence collaborates to train security forces in Central Region

Cape Coast, Oct. 5, GNA - The Department For International Department (DFID), in collaboration with Executive Intelligence, a security intelligence company, is organizing a three-day training workshop for security personnel in the Central Region.

The workshop on the theme “the role of law enforcement agencies in ensuring peace and security during the 2012 general elections” is aimed at equipping the personnel from the Police, Fire Service, Prisons and Immigration Service, with the requisite skills and knowledge to be abreast with modern trends in crowd management.

It is also to enable the personnel to adopt professional approach to their work during the polls. More than 1,050 security personnel will attend the workshop.

The Deputy Central Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Johnson Owusu Agyemang said the training was crucial to facilitate the smooth, transparent and peaceful elections.

Opening the workshop on Thursday, he urged the personnel to take the workshop serious and learn the dos and don'ts of the electoral process when assigned to polling stations.

Mr Alex Ntim Abankwa, Executive Chairman of Intelligent Executive, said the workshop was a part of a national programme drawn to aid an incident free election.

He also reiterated calls to the media to be circumspect during the period and assist in the crusade against violence during the elections.

Mr Abankwa pledged his Company's commitment towards a peaceful election and added that it would do effective monitoring to ensure that the training was beneficial to the country.
