The flagbearer of the United Renaissance Party (URP), Charles Kofi Wayo, has advised Ghanaians to stop looking to their gods for help in developing the country because the said gods are drunk.
Kofi Wayo explained that the gods may be drunk from all the alcohol that is poured to them as libation by every traditional leader and at most functions and that is why they can no longer help the nation to develop.
Speaking on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem morning show on Wednesday October 3, 2012 Mr. Wayo explained that many hold the notion that Ghana's leaders need the help of the gods of the land before they can undertake development programmes, and therefore the citizenry join the call for help with endless libations.
The downside of this activity, he added, is that the gods are not responding as expected, perhaps because they may be drunk on the copious amounts of liquor poured for them and cannot hear the cries of humans any longer.
The URP leader said if voted into office, he will appeal to the gods and ancestors to stop the demand of Schnapps and other alcoholic beverages.
In a related development, Mr Kofi Wayo has questioned the basis of creating new constituencies to the existing ones, arguing that the state has not been able to provide offices to accommodate the existing Members of Parliament.
According to Mr. Wayo, it is senseless for a nation which relies on donor funding to survive to create another avenue for the waste of scarce resources.

Kofi: You really made my day!! Tell it to the gods and all those politicians who throng to these traditional leaders for their blessings to win elections. Again, your take on the creation of the 45 new constituencies makes mockery of our quest for development. Afari Gyan defied all sane arguments against the creation of the new constituencies, all in the name of performing constitutional duties, without factoring in the economic and financial demands. Very soon, we shall go round begging fo...
