Abetifi, July 10, GNA - The Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Mr Peter Wiafe Peprah, has initiated a three-year skill training programme in dressmaking, tailoring and hairdressing for over 150 youth in the constituency.
The programme aims to provide capacity building for the youth, especially the females who could not further their education and other school drop outs under the Youth in Development Programme.
Mr Peprah, presenting sewing machines and hairdressing kits to the youth at Abetifi on Tuesday, advised them to take advantage of the programme and develop their skills and talents to enable them contribute towards the development of the nation.
He said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would transform the economy and create employment for the youthful population when the party wins the December polls.
The Coordinator of the programme, Mr William Owusu, said 18 “masters” had been recruited to teach the youth under the skill training programme for the three-year period.
He said the MP had also distributed 60 packets of roofing sheets and 200 bags of cement from his share of the Social Intervention Fund (SIF) formerly called the MP's Common Fund, to undertake community initiated projects.
Mr Owusu said the MP had presented 100 bags of cement to the Abetifiman Kuo for the construction of a 20-seater water closet place of convenience for the community.
