
Bandahene, Osaberima Okokyeredom Kwodwo Sito I, has commended government for the efforts and assistance given to Banda Ahenkro especially the District Assembly status they have just benefited from.
“This is what Bandamang has long sought for” adding “when I heard that Banda is now iIndependent of Wenchi, I wept “, said the Bandahene.
Osaberima Okokyeredom Kwodwo Sito I explained that the people of Banda had slaved under Wenchi for too long a time saying , “it is not pleasant at all to be enslaved for such a long time”.
The Bandahene was interacting with Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, during his visit to the Brong Ahafo region to ascertain the level of preparedness of newly created assemblies ahead of their inauguration this week.
He thanked Government and pledged that whatsoever he and the people of Banda will be required of to help the new District to stand on its feet, he will oblige.
According to him, the people of Banda will do anything required by government just to show how appreciative they are for the new District given them.
He was very hopeful that this would give Banda the new look and face lifting it deserves.
Mr. Elvis Afrieyie- Ankrah on his part asked the chiefs and people to support the new District with land and manpower, reiterating government's commitment to ensuring good and accountable governance for all Ghanaians.
Mr. Afriyie Ankrah urged the people of Banda to work hard in appreciation of government's support to the newly created district.
Six new Districts have been added to existing ones in the Brong Ahafo region namely Sene East, Banda, Dormaa West, Esutifi South and Techiman North who are all prepared to take off immediately after the inauguration on Thursday, June 28th.
