As part of efforts to boost access to its offices to effectively serve customers, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has commissioned a new office complex at Bortianor in Accra.
The GH¢850,000 storey-building, comprising 33 rooms, will cater for the needs of customers in Bortianor and surrounding communities as well as house the district heads of the various departments.
The construction of the new district office began after many people suggested the relocation of the office, which was housed in a container at Awoshie.
Alhaji Gango, Regional General Manager, Accra West said the district office, which was created in January 2004, did not have adequate space to carry out its activities.
He said customers were dissatisfied with services provided and that resulted in a lot of complaints.
'We sometimes had to put canopy for our customers when they come to pay bills,' he said.
Alhaji Gango noted the district office would provide staff and customers with the needed environment to carry out their activities effectively.
The Managing Director of ECG, Engineer William Hutton-Mensah, who commissioned the new office, tasked the staff to take advantage of the new facility to serve their customers better.
He asked them to use the new office to maximize customer service and minimize the level of complaints.
'Step up your game to meet the challenges of customers to have a positive reflection of ECG,' he said.
Engineer Ibrahim Yakubu, District Manager of Bortianor, assured the public that the district would abide by the core values of ECG.
'We will be passionate in dealing with our customers, be the best by going the extra mile, value each other and tackle challenges with efforts,' he said.
The chairman for the occasion, Isaac Yaw Boamah, also called for strong partnership between customers and the company.
He said the ECG could only be effective if the customers corporate and report offenders.
'Help ECG stop those who interfere with their network by authorized transferring of meters,' he said.
