Otumfuo Osei Tutu II (L) congratulating Mr George Ayisi-Boateng, a Founder Member of the NPP in Ashanti who graduated with an MBA.The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has held a special congregation to climax its 60th anniversary.
The highlight of the congregation was the conferment of honorary degrees on eight personalities for their contribution to the promotion of peace, development of education, employment and social development.
Those who received the honorary degrees included His Eminence Peter Cardinal Kwadwo Appiah Turkson, President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, in the Vatican, Rome, Italy, His Excellency Sir (Dr) Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, Esama of Benin, Nigeria, and Mr Joseph Siaw Agyemang, Chief Executive of Zoomlion Ghana.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is also Chancellor of the university, expressed worry about poor drainage and bad waste management and disposal practices in the country.
Prof. W. O. Ellis, Vice Chancellor of the university, said the university had trained over 70,000 high quality skilled men and women who had excelled in their various fields of pursuit.
The Asantehene decorated His Eminence Peter Cardinal Kwadwo Appiah Turkson, President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, Vitcan, Rome, Italy, with an honorary degree.
Among the graduands were Mr George Ayisi-Boateng, a Founder Member of the NPP in Ashanti who graduated with an MBA.
