Ghana to P ull out of the Afric an Union AU – Part III
28.10.2011 LISTEN

The African Union (AU) is metaphorically a Trojan horse in both hollowness and gigantic size. Rather than serving, the splendid purpose anticipated by its founders, as did the Greek's Trojan horse; the AU has become an enemy onto itself. It is unconsciously pursuing the course of self-destruct and hence, a bunch of laughing stock.

The AU did little or nothing when Charles McArthur Ghankay Taylor, returned to Liberia after pursuing training in Guerrilla fighting in Libya to unleash two devastating civil wars on his country. It took British soldiers to liberate Sierra Leone from a civil war of which Charles Taylor was an instigator or strongly involved, for which he is standing trial before the International Criminal Court accused of crime against humanity. In my view, why should the AU always sit, look on like a fool without sense, and hope for the Whiteman to intervene to resolve African problems all the time? What then is the relevance of the AU if it is incapable of dealing with African issues sensibly and speedily? When any African country for whatever reason suffers hunger, or their dictator-President goes to war on their own people for agitating for a change, the AU waits on the Superior White Master for an answer. Why is the AU still keeping to certain irrelevant clauses that render it a weak organization? I cannot get my head around this total incompetence in vivid exhibition by the African Union.

The lack of farsightedness by the African leaders has rendered the Union a toothless whining puppet. The leaders are always more concerned about how long they can stay in power to embezzle public funds than how best they can champion the course of the African. When they steal the money, they take them to the Whiteman's land for safekeeping and in effect, to boost up the Western economy in detriment to ours. This is how far sensible the African leader is. What effective policies have the AU in place to deter greedy African leaders from siphoning money out of the continent to hide in their personal foreign Bank accounts thereby impoverishing their various countries? How many White Presidents have Bank accounts in Africa, I may ask?

It is an open secret that our superior White brothers and sisters are perpetually hatching plans to hold the Blackman to the lowest rung of the stepladder at all times. They are able to achieve their target by craftily inciting some section of the people from within the same country against their authority, or against another section. As usual, they have their secret agenda to implement.

The late assassinated President of Libya, Colonel Gaddafi though had acquired a lot of material wealth for his people, the same people were encouraged by the hypocrite-Western World to revolt against him. He, being a dictator to the hilt felt he had better defend his authority despite the resolute determination by his people to get rid of him. The AU sat mute like a lame toddler while the Western powers opened their arsenal and inflicted unimaginable scale of injuries and death on a section of the Libyans. They smashed their entire infrastructure. The United Nations, known to be overwhelmingly controlled by West and especially the US, and rubber-stamps their wishes, only mandated NATO to implement "No Fly Zone" over Libya to stop Colonel Gaddafi from massacring his own people. Once the UN granted the permission, French President Nicholas Sarkozy who is struggling in the French opinion polls to be re-elected next year, decided to pursue a machismo diversionary agenda in attempt to salvage his nose-diving popularity at home. He and British Prime Minister David Cameron in moves to improve their ebbing popularity at home, decided on a "regime change" in total contrast to the UN mandate to ground Gaddafi's war planes.

The AU could not raise a voice even though it could see NATO pursuing a very different agenda. Gaddafi was not a weak President to kowtow to Western hypocrisies and intimidations hence, their livid hatred towards him. Unlike America and Britain, he had a large foreign reserve for his country without external debts. Every sensible person knows that France and especially, Britain were and are after Libya's large oil reserves. To buttress my contention, I will quote a statement or two from the British newspaper, London Evening Standard of Friday 21 October 2011, page 6 under the caption, Death of Gaddafi : British businessmen told: Pack your bags for Libya. "New Defence Secretary Philip Hammond said British firms should move quickly to secure lucrative work after the Gaddafi regime fell yesterday."Now that campaign is over…I would expect British companies to be, even today….packing their suitcases and looking to get out to Libya to take part in the reconstruction of that country as soon as they can," he told the BBC. British firms should now not lose out to French and other foreign rivals in the work to put Libya back on its feet, and as the oil-rich, country opens up its markets. Some members of the National Transitional Council have made it clear that British and French firms will be looked on favourably given that the two nations led the Allied campaign to topple Gaddafi. But MPs believe that Libya should also reimburse the UK for the cost of its military action" "In the past, freedom has been paid for with blood and gold," said Daniel Kawczynski, chairman of the All Party group for Libya. "The timely intervention by our Government and the international community saved many innocent lives, but the action came at a cost, and this cost has been borne by the hard-pressed British taxpayer. In these difficult economic times, it should not be too much to ask a country with Libya's wealth and resources to pay their share of the gold"

The toothless sleeping AU–bull should know where it stands on African issues. The rush by Britain and others to Libya to avail themselves of unexpected opportunities which otherwise would not have been that easy to come by under Gaddafi tells why they caused such an extensive damage to the Libyan infrastructure. They had in mind to create undue job opportunities to help salvage their shrinking economies back home. Now, their British and French unemployed citizens can rush to work in Libya. The Libyans may no longer have absolute control over their large oil reserves from now onwards remember this.

Gaddafi will one day be remembered for his prophesy made just before his assassination by the Allied force – France. He maintained, "If the power of (international) fleets give legitimacy, then let the rulers in the Third World be ready," he said in an apparent reference to NATO's military support for NTC forces." To those who recognise this council, be ready for the creation of transitional councils imposed by the power of fleets to replace you one by one from now on," he said.

Should Ghana not feel ashamed to belong in such a coward, impotent organization?
