Half Assini (W/R), Oct. 25, GNA – Work has begun on the rehabilitation of the 2.17 kilometres Half Assini town roads in the Western Region.
The project forms about one-third of the streets in the Jomoro District capital which were constructed in the1960s by Kassadjan Limited, and which have never seen any rehabilitation since, thus leaving them in a deplorable state.
Mr Bio Merkano, Jomoro District Feeder Roads Engineer who made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, said about 800 metres stretch of roads had so far been tarred.
He said streets being covered under the project included Captain William's road, Government Hospital Mortuary road, Kwame Nkrumah Guest House road, District Administration road and Officials Quarters road.
He said the shortage of kerosene by the contractor, Kingpork Construction Limited, had brought work to a standstill at the moment but expressed the hope that the work would be completed by the end of November.
The project was awarded on contract in 2008 and is being funded by the Government of Ghana.
