
he National Media Commission (NMC) has appointed as the Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL).
Mr Berifi Afari Apenteng, a media and communications consultant has also been appointed Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.
A statement issued by the Commission in Accra, said Mr Ashigbey’s appointment is for an initial term of four years and takes effect from November 1, 2011.
The statement said Mr Apenteng’s appointment was for one year, and took effect from November 1, 2011.Mr Ashigbey, an engineer and communications expert, is a product of the St Augustine’s College, Cape Coast, and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, from where he graduated in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA).
He was a General Manager of Joy FM from 2003 to 2006, Managing Director of Optimum Media Prime (OMP), Accra, from 2007 to 2010 and is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Multimedia Group Limited (MULTI TV).
Mr Ashigbey, who is a Council Member of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association, takes over from Mr Mohammed Awal, who resigned in December 2010.
He is married with children.
The new Director-General of GBC, Mr Apenteng, is a product of Mfantsipim School and the University of Ghana, where he undertook both his undergraduate and graduate studies.
He also holds an Executive MBA degree from the University of Ghana Business School and is also a Barrister-at-Law.
He was a Knight Fellow at the University of Stanford, California, USA, and one-time Director of Radio and Deputy Director of Television at GBC, General Manager of TV3 Network Limited, Managing Director of the GCGL, as well as the Managing Director of TV Africa on a part-time basis.
He is married with children.
