Chelsea outdoors newly recruited players

Accra, Oct. 5, GNA – Defending Premier League champions, Berekum Chelsea FC has out-doored their 19 newly registered players for the 2011/12 soccer season as well as for their continental campaign.

The 19 newly recruited players includes three former members of the Black Stars, Charles Taylor, Habib Mohamedand Baba Amando, as well as Gladson Awako, a member of the Black Satellites team that won the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Under-20 World Cup in Egypt.

The list also includes Nurudeen Ali, a member of the gold medal winning team of the Black Meteors at the 2011 All Africa Games and Kweku Andoh, Isaac Amponsah, Collins Addo, Solomon Asante, Musa Mohammed and Alfred Quaye.

Also in the lists of the newly recruited players are Richard Kissi Boateng, Isaac Morgan, Joseph Techie-Menson, Celestine Mbarasem, Gafaru Abdulai, Abdul Kamara, Yasir and Prince Anokye.

George Afriyie, a member of the Emergency Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) , who represented the President of the Club at the ceremony; Emmanuel Kyeremeh, described the exercise as a good step and a positive promotional tool for the Club and the League as well.

He said there was the need for all Premier League Clubs to institutionalize the out-dooring of newly recruited players at the beginning of each season to whip up the enthusiasm of football fans to fill the stands at the stadiums.

Afriyie said there was the need for the Club to embark on the same exercise at their home base in Berekum to ensure that the home fans get used to the players to boost attendance at the stadium.

Each member of the team was presented with their jerseys registered at the Accra Sports Stadium, on Sunday October 9.
