A political activist and staunch supporter of the NDC, Dr Asemfofro (real name Yaw Nketia) has jumped to the defence of embattled founder and leader of the International God's Way Ministry, Bishop Daniel Obinim saying he has not done anything wrong or committed any sacrilege.

Bishop Obinim has been embroiled in controversy lately as he is alleged to have had a five-year affair with his associate pastor's wife Gifty Fobih; the relationship has reportedly produced a baby girl who the Bishop claims he has cursed resulting in the child being crippled and with psychological problems.

He said the curse was meant as punishment for his former lover who wants to dent his image and status as a man of God.

It does not end there as he reportedly assaulted a presenter of Hot FM for discussing his amorous relationship on-air and vandalised the station's offices. He was arrested and arraigned before court and has been granted a GHS50,000 bail.

Although his actions have been condemned by several members of the clergy, politicians and majority of the general public, Dr Asemfofro, who is established in traditional religion, insists Bishop Obinim has not committed any crime to attract the fury of Ghanaians.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Dwaso Nsem on Adom FM Friday, Asemfofro argued that even God loved womanisers, citing Biblical examples like King Solomon who had 300 wives and 700 concubines, David who slept with another man's wife and Abraham, who had a relationship with his maid to buttress his claims.

He stressed that Bishop Obinim did not forcefully drag the woman to a room to have sex with her, adding that consensual sex between two adults cannot be described as an act of sacrilege.

But the National Youth Organiser of the Convention People's Party (CPP),

Kwabena Bomfeh aka Kabila dismissed Dr Asemfofro's statements and described Bishop Obinim as untrustworthy.

Kabila stated that Bishop Obinim had taken advantage of the vulnerability of the masses under the guise of performing miracles.

He said the pastor had even been inconsistent with the evidence he had given on the matter, adding that his actions are an embarrassment for the Christian community and he should bow his head in shame.

Kwabena Bomfeh noted that Jesus came not to destroy but to seek and save the lost so if Bishop Daniel Obinim is really using the power of God to operate, he should heal the little girl he claims to have crippled.
