The Minister for Water, Works and Housing, Mr. Alban S. K. Bagbin has denied media reports that the STX housing deal has failed to live up to its scheduled date of commencement.

Speaking on Asempa FM's current affairs talk show, Ekosii Sen on Monday, he said everything was on course, adding that measures have been put in place to ensure the realization of the project to that would provide accommodation for the nation's security agencies.

The Minister said the schedule provided to the ministry by STX for the commencement of the project by the end of July this year has been met, adding that land preparations had started and construction equipment had been moved to the various sites, signaling the imminent construction of the 30,000 housing units as planned.

Mr. Bagbin said the Kwabenya and Burma Camp construction sites have been prepared by STX Construction Company while the Tesano site is scheduled to be ready by next week, attributing the delay to the existence of some structures on the premises that were yet to be cleared.

According to Mr. Bagbin, there has been a lot of work going on in the background in recent times towards the realization of the STX housing project.

“Government has fulfilled all of its obligations towards the deal and has been reliably informed by management of STX Construction Company that they have sourced all the funds needed for the realization of the project,” he explained.

The minister maintained that government was committed to the realization of the STX housing deal to provide 30,000 housing units for the security agencies in the country.
