Accra, June 7, GNA - The Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission has appointed Mr Emmanuel Arthur as the Public Relations and Consumer Affairs Manager.
The appointment was to give meaning to the Commission's priority of increasing access to its services through the creation of liaison offices and communication channels with stakeholders.
A press release issued on Monday, to the Ghana News Agency, said the Regulatory Commission was established by the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission Act, 2003 (Act 649), as a regulatory body to license and regulate the operation of postal and courier services in the Country.
The statement said the objective of the Commission was to create a more liberalized and competitive postal and courier services environment, in pursuance of the postal reforms embarked upon by the Government.
The Commission has been operational since September 2004.
It said Mr Arthur is a journalist by profession, and comes to the Commission with twelve years of experience in journalism and Public Relations.
Until his appointment, Mr Arthur was the Senior Communications Officer for the Ghana office of World Vision International and had worked as Head of the Political and Parliamentary Desk at TV3 Network Limited.
It further said that Mr Arthur was once the Press and Information Officer for the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) and served on the Government –NUGS Students Loan Negotiation Team.
Mr Arthur holds Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from the University of Ghana and a Diploma in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
It said Mr Arthur has won a number of awards, including the 2006 Best Television News Reporter Award of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA).
