Former Moderator condemns pursuit of self-serving agenda

Kumasi, May 10, GNA - The Very Reverend Dr Sam Prempeh, former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has condemned what he says is the growing pursuit of personal and sectional interests in the church by some of its members.

This, he said, was fuelling division along ethnic lines, something that was unhelpful to the growth of the church.

The former Moderator therefore urged the leaders to work hard to address the situation.

Very Rev Dr Prempeh said they should not miss the fact that the church represented "one body in Christ" and as such the expectation was that all would work towards achieving the collective agenda of Christendom for a better society.

He was delivering the sermon at the elevation of the Buokrom Estate Presbyterian Church to full District status in Kumasi.

Very Rev Dr Prempeh noted that Christianity was unique in the sense that it embraced all manner of persons irrespective of language, ethnicity, colour and place of origin.

He reminded Christians to focus on the goal of addressing the problem of insolence among the youth, feeding the poor and giving hope to the depressed.
