Saltpond (C/R), April 9, GNA – Six divisional chiefs in the Nkusukum Traditional Area of the Central Region, have been outdoored at a colourful ceremony at Saltpond.
The chiefs, Nana Beenyi, Obaatan of Nkusukum, Nana Kwaansa Panyin, Werepemhen, Nana Kwame Ntsiful, Dabiwhene, Nana Anyinsa, Mpontuhen Nana Kurabo, Abakomahen Nana Ewusi Asokwahen all of the Nkusukum Traditional Area, swore the oath of allegiance to Nana Kwesi Brebo III, Acting President of the Traditional area.
At the ceremony, Sariki Miana of Eguase Zongo, near Cape Coast, and Sariki Mama Anomabo of Saltpond Zongo, rulers of the zongo communities were introduced to the gathering.
In a speech, Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron, Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive called on traditional authorities to make their reigns a peaceful one and also development oriented.
Her expressed regret that some chiefs had taken solace in litigations, which depletes resources which could be used for development.
The MCE appealed to the people to support their leaders with prayers to enable them to perform well.
Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Deputy Minister for Local government and Rural Development and Member of Parliament for Mfantseman West called on Ghanaians to rally behind President John Evans Atta Mills Government, assuring them that, the government would not disappoint them.
He said a team of experts had inspected a site for the construction of a nursing training school at Saltpond and that very soon the project could take of.
The Deputy Minister mentioned a number of projects the government had initiated for the area, which included a fisheries training school at Anomabo, educational facilities, roads and water supply system.
Nana Brebo advised the new chiefs to make their impact felt by the people, by initiating development projects.
