'Alhaji Jawula has nothing to do with Salaga shooting incident'

Some elders of the Kujolobito Gate of Lepo-Kpembe in the East Gonja District of the Northern Region, have described as it being 'irresponsible and malicious' for anybody to link the Lepowura Alhaji M. N. D. Jawula, to the alleged shooting incident that occurred in Salaga some few days ago.

The Spokesperson for the Kujolobito gate, Mr. Baba Jawula, and other aggrieved elders who stormed the Northern Regional Office of The Chronicle, to react to an earlier front page story by the paper, which sought to accuse the Lepowura as being the main architect of the shooting incident, asserted that Alhaji M. N. D Jawula had not even visited Kpembe/Salaga, or any of its surrounding communities for the past months, and was also not part of the meeting of some concerned youth of Kujolobito, who were resisting the enskinment of Mr. Issah Yahaya, as the Chaa-wura.

The Spokesperson said that the Kujolobito family thus suspected that the publication was the handiwork of one or two selfish and unscrupulous politicians, who wanted to maliciously injure the hard-won reputation and political ambition of the former football administrator.

According to Mr. Baba Jawula, Lepowura M. N. D. Jawula was a peace-loving citizen of Kpembe, who respected the traditional setup, and would therefore not do or say anything that would instigate the youth to cause unnecessary violence in the area.

He indicated that the Lepowura had no powers to nominate or enskin a chief within the Lepo Gate, since it was the responsibility of the Kanakula-wura Alhaji Tahiru Jawula, who is the head of the family, and has the overall powers to nominate and enskin a Chaa-wura.

After the Kanakula-wura, the Dusaiwura is the next person, followed by the Blajaiwura, Injaiwura and Chorwura, before the Chaa-wura, and these six royal gates could ascend to the Kpembe skin, Mr. Baba Jawula indicated.

It would be recalled that The Chronicle, in the Monday August 9th 2010 edition, reported that 'the Salaga police have arrested Kanakule-wura Tahiru, and one Zakaria Alhassan Jawula, both relatives of Lapowura M. N. D. Jawula, over a shooting incident, which occurred at Salaga, leading to the injury of two people.'
