BARELY A week after the controversial movie producer of Movie Africa Productions, Socrate Sarfo, said premiering movies in Ghana is a waste of resources, Venus Films is on the move to keep the fire burning to prove critics wrong.
Venus Films, which has contributed to the rise of big names like Nadia Buari, Van Vicker and Jackie Appiah, is set to premiere its latest movie titled 'Chelsea' at the Silverbird Cinema at the Accra mall.
Scheduled for February 5, the red carpet ceremony is expected to be a star-studded event. The 'Chelsea' premiere will be Venus Films' first event for 2010.
Among the familiar faces expected to grace the event are John Dumelo, Nadia Buari, Brenda Osei Bonsu, Majid Michel and others who are part of the cast.
The movie was first scheduled to premiere on January 29, but it was moved to February 5 due to space at the Silverbird Cinema.
'Chelsea' was shot during the latter part of last year in Akosombo and Accra.
The movie title is suspected to have been inspired by the English Premier League club. However Abdul Salam, the CEO of Venus Films, says the movie is named after Nadia Buari's character.
The movie tells the tale of disloyalty, love and passion, and fans are looking forward to seeing more improved productions this year.
