Barely a week ago when the Chronicle Newspaper brokered that this laudable project has come to a hot many media houses took their turns to have first hand information about the existence of the Oman Ghana Trust Fund and City Fm was one of those.
Traditionally it has been accepted by all particularly across the globe that the use of media is very paramount in the development of every nation. Nevertheless it has totally been different in t he case of the Oman Ghana Trust Fund (OGTF).
In an interview on City Fm last Friday, Ghana's illustrious son and former Minister of Health and Agriculture in the NPP administration, Ranger Major Courage Quashigah (Rtd.) entreated the present NDC Government to put a team together to examine the authenticity of claims made Ranger Capt. Gregory Frazier that the government of Ghana owns some 47 billion dollars in a current account and an unknown amount in some investment accounts lodged at the United Bank of Switzerland supposedly to have been set up Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in 1959.
Later notwithstanding this was also an internet news publication “GREGORY FRAZIER MAY BE TELLING THE TRUTH - QUASHIGAH” that quoted Major Courage Quashigah (Rtd.) as having stated th at previous attempts by former Ghanaian Governments to track the said 47 billion dollars and some investments accounts from the Swiss Bank through the same procedures outlined by Gregory Frazier proved futile.
Friends of Oman Ghana Trust Fund (FOGTF) upon hearing this drew the attention of City Fm of the misinformation and the distortion of the true fact of the case and called on them to drop the story and put out a new one.
After several attempts by FOGTF to show the error that City Fm presented to the world so that Ghana would not receive her proper money, City Fm reluctantly agreed to correct the grievous error to the entire world by editing their ACHIEVES so that no one would know the lies City Fm told the world while other radio stations following City Fm on their own internet connections repeated this lies to the whole world.
This gave the impression t hat we had even been given one chance that Mr. Frazier had always requested for to do it the proper way and We Had Not.
Finally changes were effected to the news item after the recorded interview was replayed to ascertain the claims been made by FOGTF. Why?!!!!!!!
Meanwhile, the Chief of the Friends of Oman Ghana Trust Fund, Mr. Kobla Asamani has stated emphatically and overwhelmingly that no Government has gone in the way that Mr. Frazier has prescribed and both the late Honourable Kodwo Baah Weridu and Ranger Major Courage Quashigah (Rtd.) are in accord with former US Army Ranger Capt. Gregory Frazier's plan of action to retrieve Ghana's money citing that the time is now for Ghana to be developed.
Mr. Asamani said he is marveled about the way simple facts can just be distorted.
The Friends of Oman Ghana Trust Fund calls on President Mills and the NDC Government to as a matter of urgency investigate this project from A – Z right now in order to relieve Ghanaians from poverty.
It is hope that neither City Fm nor any other media House would repeat such a mistake again but rather be part of such a clarion call on Government to bring this project to an end.
