Ejisu (Ash), May 5, GNA - Mr. Mohammed Boakye Agyemang, the President's nominee as Ejisu-Juabeng Municipal Chief Executive was on Monday confirmed by members of the Municipal Assembly at an emergency meeting held at Ejisu.
He polled a total of 57 votes out of the 58 ballots cast in the election, supervised by the Electoral Commission.
In a related development, Mr. Nicholas Owusu Sekyere was also elected as the Presiding Member after he polled 41 votes out of the 58 ballots cast to beat his contender Nana Addae Yeboah, who polled 17 votes.
Addressing members of the assembly after the elections, Mr. Kofi Opoku Manu, Ashanti Regional Minister, entreated the MCE to be committed to duty to speed up the development of his area.
He tasked the members not to sabotage the MCE but be supportive of his work in the interest of the assembly.
Mr Agyemang thanked the members for the confidence reposed in him and promised to work in collaboration with the Presiding Member and stakeholders to improve the living standards of the people in order to deepen the local government concept.
