THE REHA-MEDICAL Group Ghana Limited has donated an artificial hip joint to a 26-year old sickle cell patient, Vida Ahodetor who is suffering from artrosis.

Vida's condition was causing her hip bone to wear off and was consequently causing her severe pain resulting in difficult movement.

The artificial hip joint which was acquired from Switzerland at the cost of $8,000, according to the executive chairman of the company, Harry B. Sintim-Aboagye, would assuage her suffering and return her walking to normalcy.

Mr. Sintim-Aboagye noted that he was touched by an advert he read in the DAILY GUIDE appealing for assistance for Vida. He indicated that he later proposed to his management that they extend a helping hand to the patient, which the management agreed to.

He was excited that the hip joint was being presented to Vida to make life more comfortable for her. He mentioned that her condition would be used as a case study and that Reha-Medical would further monitor Vida's healing process till she recuperates fully.

Reha-Med promised Vida a trip to Switzerland, where the hip joint was manufactured, to acquaint herself with that country.

Vida, with tears in her eyes, thanked the management of the company saying she was grateful that they had availed themselves to be used by God to answer her prayers.

Mr. Gabriel Ahodetor, Vida's father, expressed his profound gratitude to the management of Reha-Med and prayed for God's blessing upon the company.

Mr. Sintim-Aboagye indicated that his outfit had made donations to institutions such as the Akropong School for the Blind and the Osu Children's Home.

Reha-Med aims to become a world-class medical supply outfit and accordingly help government to achieve its aim of providing quality health care in the 21st century.

The company specialises in furnishing hospitals, theatres, laboratories, provision of oxygen plants, blood banks as well as mortuaries.

It has two awards to its credit; the Golden Award - Excellence in Business Practice in Switzerland by the Foundation for Excellence in Business Practice (FEBI) in 2005, and the Marketing Leadership Award - Ghana Orthopaedics implants market by Frost & Sullivan in the Republic of South Africa, 2008.

Last year, Vida made several appeals to the general public to help her undergo a hip transplant but the money raised was not enough for the surgery.

With this donation, Vida in a few days time would hopefully undergo a successful surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
