The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced that all travellers arriving in Ghana will be required to complete a mandatory Health Declaration Form before embarking on their journey, effective Thursday, November 12.
The directive applies to all passengers travelling to Ghana, including Ghanaian citizens and foreign visitors.
In a press release issued on Saturday, November 7, the Service said the measure forms part of efforts to strengthen the country's public health surveillance and preparedness systems.
"The measure is intended to strengthen Ghana's public health surveillance and preparedness systems, enhance the monitoring of potential public health risks, and safeguard the health and well-being of both residents and visitors," the statement said.
The GHS explained that travellers must complete and submit the form through its online portal before departure.
The form can be accessed at https://ehds.ghs.gov.gh/declaration.
The Service has urged all prospective travellers to comply with the directive to avoid difficulties during their travel arrangements.
It has also encouraged airlines, travel agencies and other relevant stakeholders to inform passengers about the new requirement ahead of their journeys.
"The Service urges all travellers to comply with this directive to facilitate a smooth travel process and support the country's efforts to protect public health," the statement added.
The announcement follows an earlier directive by the Minister of Health requiring the introduction of the mandatory health declaration as part of measures to strengthen Ghana's public health protection systems.
