TRAFFITECH-GH Boosts Speed Limit Compliance, Says NRSA

The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has reported a noticeable improvement in driver behaviour following the rollout of the automated traffic enforcement system, TRAFFITECH-GH, with motorists increasingly adhering to speed regulations to avoid traffic violation penalties.

Henry Asomani, Deputy Director of Planning and Programmes at the NRSA and the Authority’s focal person for the system, said an initial assessment indicated that the technology was already influencing road users' conduct.

“We have observed a significant change among motorists. People are no longer speeding as they used to because of the likelihood of receiving a traffic violation notice,” he told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Friday.

Mr Asomani noted that while the system had generally received positive public acceptance, some motorists had raised concerns about gaps in road infrastructure, particularly the availability of road signage.

He said the NRSA was working closely with relevant road agencies to ensure the installation of adequate traffic signs to guide motorists on speed limits and other road regulations.
