The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has demanded the immediate dismissal of the heads of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and National Security over what it describes as repeated failures to prevent cocaine trafficking through Ghana.

The party says the demand follows at least 14 major drug seizures involving Ghana between March 2025 and October 2026,

It cited the seizure of 46.7 kilogrammes of cocaine from a Syrian national who reportedly travelled from Accra to Beirut on October 31.

The cocaine, concealed in two suitcases fitted with electronic tracking devices, was intercepted by Lebanese Customs and General Security at the Beirut airport.

Addressing a press conference at the party's headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, November 4, the NPP's Second National Vice Chairman, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, accused the government of failing to hold officials of the relevant institutions accountable.

He argued that the repeated seizures pointed to possible weaknesses in Ghana's security systems and demanded that the heads of the four institutions be removed from office.

“They have failed, and they have failed repeatedly. They must be sacked, and they must be sacked now,” he stated.

The NPP also questioned the government's explanation that the latest Beirut cocaine seizure was part of a controlled delivery operation involving NACOC and Lebanese authorities.

According to the party, the explanation raises questions about who authorised the movement of the drugs from Accra, the alleged arrest of three foreign nationals in Ghana and the reported payment of bribes to airport officials to facilitate the courier's departure.

The party further questioned why Lebanese authorities had not publicly acknowledged NACOC's alleged involvement in the operation.

Nana Boakye said the government had failed to provide a consistent account of the operation and called for the publication of the names, nationalities and charges of all persons arrested in Ghana in connection with the seizure.

The NPP further called for a bipartisan parliamentary inquiry into all Ghana-linked cocaine seizures recorded since January 2025, with public hearings to establish the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

The party also wants government to publish the roadmap of an inter-agency task force established by President John Dramani Mahama following an emergency security meeting on September 17, 2026.

Nana B, do you know why the NPP today has become a laughing stock in the eyes of Ghanaians? You are demanding accountability from a government that has used 2 years to clean the accumulated 8 years mess of the NPP. Meanwhile, when the people ask you, " Where is Ken Ofori-Atta?" You pretend you have no ears.
