Three suspected members of an outlaw motorcycle gang accused of attacking and robbing residents in parts of the Ashanti Region have been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
The suspects, identified as Sharif Mahmud, 23, Abdallah Karim, 25, and James Alena, 25, were picked up during a police operation at Suame in Kumasi at about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
Police say the group has been linked to illegal midnight motorcycle racing within the Breman-Kronum-Suame enclave, where its members allegedly take over public roads and prey on unsuspecting pedestrians.
The Command disclosed that the arrests followed sustained surveillance of the suspects, whose activities had been under monitoring after they repeatedly managed to evade police operations.
However, several other alleged members escaped during the latest exercise, prompting the police to step up efforts to locate and arrest them.
The 3 suspects have since been granted police inquiry bail and are expected to appear in court when sittings resume following the ongoing strike by the Judicial Service Association of Ghana (JUSAG).
Investigations into the activities of the suspected gang remain ongoing, while police continue efforts to apprehend the fleeing members.
The Command has appealed to residents to provide credible information that could help identify and locate the suspects still at large.
