The actions and inactions of NACOC have become a serious dent and a disgrace to Ghana’s image and international reputation. Why the government has, to date, failed to take decisive action against the Commission’s leadership is beyond comprehension.
NACOC’s seemingly contradictory explanations regarding the recent seizure of approximately 40kg of cocaine in Beirut raise serious questions about its credibility, competence and possible complicity in the circumstances surrounding the incident.
If, as NACOC claims, the intention was to arrest all those involved in the drug trafficking operation upon delivery, why did the Beirut authorities not allow the suspect to clear his baggage and subsequently trail him to the intended point of delivery? Such an approach could have potentially helped identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the operation.
The circumstances surrounding this incident demand a thorough, independent and transparent investigation. Ghanaians deserve clear answers, not explanations that raise even more questions.
A complete and total overhaul of NACOC’s top hierarchy is long overdue!
