Another Ghanaian Reportedly Found Dead at a Bronx Dumpsite After Two Weeks Missing

The Ghanaian community in the Bronx, New York, is reeling from reports that a young man missing for about two weeks has been found dead at a dumpsite. The news broke on 3 November 2026 and comes days after another Ghanaian death in the same borough.

Joseph Owusu, a 24-year-old Ghanaian organist based in the Bronx, was reportedly found dead at a dumpsite about two weeks after he disappeared. A scrap collector reportedly came across his body among refuse. He was an organist at the Ghana United Methodist Church in the Bronx. Some reports say the body was found inside a rubbish bag.

The identification is not settled. One outlet reporting a Facebook post noted that the claims suggest the deceased could be the missing Ghanaian, Joseph Owusu. I found no statement from the NYPD, the family or the church confirming the identity, the cause of death or whether a homicide investigation is open. Some Ghanaian outlets describe it as a killing, but that is not established in the reports I found.

The news came shortly after another Bronx tragedy. Ghanaian teenager Javits Frimpong was shot and killed on Thursday, 29 October 2026. Social media is now full of anger and fear. Ghanaians in the US and at home are demanding justice, asking who is killing their young men in the Bronx and why their bodies are being dumped like trash.

Open questions remain for the NYPD, the Ghana Consulate in New York and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These include formal identification, cause of death, whether the two cases are linked, and what support the Ghanaian government will give the families, including repatriation of remains.
