Police investigate alleged abduction and abuse of women at Eastern Region facility

The Eastern Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into reports of alleged abduction and physical abuse of women at a gated residential facility in the Ntano Electoral Area of the New Juaben North Municipality.

The facility, situated around the CMB Workshop area, is reportedly occupied by about 18 West African nationals engaged in network marketing, according to preliminary police findings.

The investigation followed concerns raised by residents who said they had repeatedly heard unusual noises and cries believed to be coming from women inside the apartments, particularly during the evenings.

In response, personnel from the Counter Terrorism Unit and the Effiduase Police Command were deployed to the location, leading to the arrest of some suspects.

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigators probe allegations that women were abducted, detained against their will and subjected to physical abuse at the premises.

The police have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects or the number of women who may have been affected. Further details about the alleged incidents and the circumstances surrounding them are also yet to be made public.
