The Asankragwa Divisional Police Command has declared 10 reported cases of alleged missing male genitalia within its jurisdiction unfounded after medical examinations confirmed that all the complainants had their genitalia intact and functioning normally.
The Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Vitus Napen, disclosed this during a press briefing in Asankragwa on Monday, October 26, 2026, attended by the District Police Commander, Superintendent James Ankan, and the Divisional Crime Officer, John Kwakye.
According to Chief Superintendent Napen, the first complaint was lodged at Wassa Dunkwa on October 17, 2026, triggering a series of similar reports across communities within the division.
He explained that the complainants claimed their genitalia had mysteriously disappeared after physical contact with other individuals.
Of the 10 cases recorded, Wassa Dunkwa accounted for 6, followed by Asankragwa with 2, while Aboi Nkwanta and Breman recorded 1 each.
However, medical examinations conducted on all the complainants established that their genitalia were intact and medically normal, contradicting the claims.
The Divisional Commander attributed the growing number of reports to panic, anxiety and misinformation, which preliminary investigations suggested had fuelled fear among residents.
He cautioned the public against making unfounded allegations or spreading false information about missing genitalia, warning that individuals found responsible could face criminal prosecution.
Chief Superintendent Napen explained that such conduct could constitute offences relating to the publication of false news and deceiving a public officer.
Mob attacks police vehicle over missing manhood allegation
The police commander also condemned an incident at Breman, where an angry mob vandalised a police patrol vehicle during an operation to rescue a suspect accused of causing another man's genitalia to disappear.
He said the mob smashed the rear windscreen of the vehicle while attempting to lynch the suspect, despite the intervention of police officers.
Describing the attack as a criminal act, Chief Superintendent Napen warned that anyone involved in assaulting security personnel or damaging state property would be pursued and prosecuted.
He urged residents to refrain from mob justice and allow the police to investigate complaints through lawful procedures rather than resorting to violence.
The commander further appealed to traditional authorities, opinion leaders and assembly members within the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality to intensify public education on the dangers of misinformation and false accusations.
He encouraged residents to report suspected criminal activities to the police instead of taking matters into their own hands.
Chief Superintendent Napen disclosed that no arrests had been made in connection with the attack on the police vehicle as of the time of the briefing.
He assured the public that investigations were continuing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the vandalism.
