The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued a final eviction notice to commercial drivers operating around the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Gee Roundabout, warning that a ban on parking and loading in the area will take effect on November 1.
The Assembly said drivers who fail to comply with the directive will be evicted by its Special Security Taskforce from Monday, November 2.
In a statement dated Wednesday, October 28, the KMA urged commercial drivers operating around the roundabout and behind the Komfo Anokye Polyclinic towards 4 Garrison to vacate the area before the enforcement exercise begins.
“As a matter of emphasis, KMA wishes to state in stern terms that the ban starts effective Sunday 1st November 2026 night,” the statement said in part.
The Assembly explained that the directive forms part of efforts to improve access to the hospital, reduce congestion around the facility and ensure emergency services can respond promptly to calls.
It also advised commercial and private vehicle operators to drop off passengers at the taxi rank in front of the outpatient department (OPD) of the Komfo Anokye Polyclinic instead of stopping around the restricted area.
“By this release, the Management of KMA is requesting an absolute compliance of drivers as well as passengers as it works to sanitise, enhance accessibility and rapid response to emergency calls at the KATH,” the statement noted
The notice reiterates an earlier announcement issued by the Assembly on October 13, concerning the ban on parking and loading by commercial vehicles around the Gee Roundabout.
