Ghanaian media personality Tilly Akua Nipaa has suggested that Abeiku Santana would have been the ideal person to head the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), with its current Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto, serving in a supporting role.
Speaking during a discussion on Hitz FM, Tilly praised Abeiku Santana for his active involvement in promoting Ghana’s tourism industry, arguing that he frequently travels across the country and beyond to showcase Ghana to the world.
She questioned the visibility of the current CEO, suggesting that Abeiku’s efforts and presence in tourism promotion made him a suitable candidate to lead the Authority.
Her comments come amid growing public attention surrounding a communication dispute between Abeiku Santana, the GTA’s Deputy CEO in charge of Marketing and Special Duties, and Maame Efua Houadjeto.
On October 22, 2026, Abeiku wrote to the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, seeking intervention over what he described as recurring difficulties in securing meetings with the CEO for urgent official consultations. He said the situation had delayed decisions and affected the execution of some assignments.
In response, Maame Efua, in a letter dated October 24, expressed surprise and disappointment, insisting that she operates an open-door policy for executive and senior management officials.
She proposed measures to improve communication, including regular executive consultations, clearer procedures for escalating urgent matters, improved meeting arrangements and clarification of delegated responsibilities.
