The Member of Parliament for Builsa North and Majority Leader of Ghana’s 9th Parliament, Hon. James Agalga, has told the media that the contractor working on the Sandema–Wiaga road has returned to site and that work is progressing steadily.
Hon. Agalga expressed disappointment at what he described as naysayers, including opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the constituency, who have claimed that the road was never awarded to a contractor. He said he is not worried by their criticisms. “All I know is that the contractor has returned to work, and work is progressing,” he stated.
Warning to self‑styled engineers
The MP issued a stern warning to commentators he described as “self‑styled engineers,” urging them to desist from unnecessary commentary about the contractor and the work. He cautioned that such commentary could disrupt operations or attempt to discredit the contractor’s efforts. “The contractor should be allowed to do his work without any disruptive actions. They are very competent and experienced,” the MP noted.
On his performance as MP
Responding to critics in the constituency who claim he is not performing as expected, Hon. Agalga said he does not expect everyone to praise him. “You don’t expect everyone to credit me. You cannot expect the very people I defeated several times in elections to applaud me,” he said.
He added that some individuals will always find something negative to say about others, regardless of their good works. “If I were underperforming, I wouldn’t have won the seat for four consecutive terms. So the people of Builsa North know what is good for them,” the MP added.
Assurance to constituents
In conclusion, Hon. Agalga assured the good people of Builsa North that the contractor is back on site and working to fix the road within the shortest possible time.
