The Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH) has inaugurated its reconstituted Audit Committee to strengthen corporate governance, enhance transparency and accountability, and promote efficient management of public resources.
The ceremony, held on October 22 at the hospital’s premises in Ho, was conducted by the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) in accordance with Section 86 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), which mandates the establishment of audit committees in public institutions.
The reconstitution of the Committee reaffirms the hospital’s commitment to sound financial management, robust internal controls, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in institutional performance.
The delegation from the IAA was led by its Deputy Director-General, Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, who presided over the inauguration.
The newly constituted five-member Committee is made up of two representatives from the IAA, Dr. Frank Yao Klu and Mr. Adrian Kwame Adotevi; a representative from the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), Mr. Thomas Clarkson Adade; and two representatives from the Hospital's Governing Board, Mr. Courage Kwame-Kumah and Prof. Yaw Asante Awuku.
The Committee will be chaired by Mr. Thomas Clarkson Adade, the ICAG representative.
Present at the ceremony were the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Hintermann K.K. Mbroh, the Director of Finance, Mr. Kwasi Dzramedo, and the Head of Internal Audit, Mr. Edward Osaebo Boadu.
Addressing the Committee, Mr. Aborbi-Ayitey urged members not to limit themselves to an oversight role but to serve as strategic partners to management in identifying institutional risks, strengthening internal control systems and improving overall performance. He also charged them to ensure timely implementation of internal and external audit recommendations.
Speaking on behalf of the Committee, Chairman Mr. Adade thanked the Internal Audit Agency and the hospital's management for the confidence reposed in them and pledged that the Committee would discharge its duties with diligence, independence and integrity, while the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mbroh, assured management’s full support for the Committee’s work.
