The Interceptor General (Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa) Has Been Intercepted

Less than two years into President Mahama Government, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who used to intercept documents and carry himself as incorruptible and 'Saint' is in the news for allegations of corruption and accountability issues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This time round, the Interceptor General is under serious scrutiny for documents he has furnished the NPP minority caucus in Parliament with.

The minority caucus and for that matter Ghanaians are demanding answers from Hon. Interceptor General on the expenses incurred in airlifting Ghanaians back home from South Africa, occasioned by the xenophobic attacks on Ghanaians and other African nationals in South Africa. Based on the documents presented, serious accountability issues arose and Hon. Interceptor General must redeem himself by providing further and better particulars.

The Interceptor General in his earlier response to the minority caucus' allegations of irregularities on the allowances paid to the beneficiaries indicated that Ghana has not lost a dime in advancing the allowances to the beneficiaries but independent media investigation has proven that Ghana indeed lost millions of Ghana Cedis based on the documents presented to the minority by the Foreign Affairs Ministry. The Interceptor General told Ghanaians that Ghs10.8 million was issued to the beneficiaries as allowances for integration and transportation. But independent media investigation has proven that Ghs6.33 million was issued to the beneficiaries based on the documents presented to the minority caucus by the Foreign Affairs Ministry. This has left a huge amount of Ghs4.47 million unaccounted for allowances supposedly paid to beneficiaries. Where has the money gone to?

On the face of the documents presented, it is reported that some of the beneficiaries of the allowances are yet to be born into this world and others had weird birth dates like 31st February. Ghana embassy in South Africa tried explaining that the dates on the documents were beneficiaries' passports expiration dates, but much explanation is required by the embassy on the issue of the 31st February date of birth. In all this hullabaloo, the Interceptor General has gone mute after the recent further expose'.

Has the Interceptor General been Intercepted? Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has not responded to these further irregularities extracted from his own documents. I believe if he were the Interceptor, he would have asked the earth to break for him to enter. He would have criminalized the discrepancies in the dates of birth of the beneficiaries and demanded the law to take its course. He would have equally demanded the resignation or sacking of the sector Minister. Hon. Interceptor General, at this moment, Ghanaians need answers. The accountability crusader and ORAL Chairman, you have been Intercepted - exonerate yourself.
