Former Vice-President and 2028 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has held consultations with three health professional associations to discuss recruitment, regulation and improved conditions of service in the sector.
The meeting formed part of his ongoing stakeholder consultations to gather views from professional groups on issues affecting their work and the delivery of public services.
The associations were the Ghana Health Information Management Association, the Ghana Association of Community Mental Health Officers and the Nutrition and Dietetics Association of Ghana.
In a social media post on Thursday, October 22, Dr Bawumia said the discussions covered several concerns affecting the professional groups, including recognition of their cadres and the need for legislation.
“We discussed professional cadre recognition, legislation, recruitment, regulation, and improved conditions of service,” he stated.
He said the consultations would help him better understand the concerns of stakeholders and develop policies tailored to their needs.
“Every conversation offers an opportunity to better understand the issues and helps us design tailor-made policies to serve the people of Ghana,” Dr Bawumia added.
He also expressed gratitude to the three associations for sharing their insights during the engagement.
